For Key Stages 3–5

This programme is designed to support Classical Civilisation students to understand the cultural and historic context of Greek and Roman objects.

There are 8 themes available, focusing on objects from the Museum’s collection and covering topics within the specification for Classical Civilisations at GCSE and A level.


• Art and architecture: the Parthenon
• Art and architecture: ancient Greek pottery
• Life in Roman cities
• Roman Britain
• The ancient Olympic Games
• Mycenaean Greece
• Religion in the ancient Greek or Roman world
• Warfare in the ancient Greek or Roman world

We offer 30 minute spotlight talks on objects from the collection based on each theme. Sessions take place in the Museum galleries and are limited to no more than 15 students per group.

A minimum of 6 weeks’ notice is essential when booking. These sessions are available on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
